OK - this'll get to to 15 until 700, with 13 days until by b.com anniversary. Might just make it....

duh - I can't subtract - that would have been 25 - now 24.... you'd think someone who does stats all day could do simple subtraction.... just wishful thinking I guess.

I received my e-newsletter from Guitar9 records today, and it had this little ditty:

Now, let`s be honest. When was the last time you heard some brilliant new music through a mega-watt sound system with a real, live, round "volume knob" that you cound turn whenever you felt like it? Music is having the life squashed out of it through earbuds - resolve to listen to music at least once this week the way it was meant to be heard, with speakers pumping, the subwoofer thumping and with a volume knob you can spin when things get going good.

Valid point, IMHO. I don't use earbuds. I can't stand them. However, there seems to be a whole generation rising behind us that thinks all music is supposed to sound the way it sounds in them. I've seen gatherings of my son and his friends, all sitting around with their ipods, each listening to their own favourites, occassionally sharing the earbuds with one another to let a friend hear one selection or other. I think they are missing much of the joy of the listening experience.

Shap...I totally agree. Most of "today's" generation is missing the full fledged dynamic range of many pieces. There is so much sound compression on the electronic media (iPod etc.) that much is being overlooked. What's missing is "feel" of the music coming at you...whether live or through speakers. I have listened to my share of headphones (I hate earbuds) and many sound very impressive. Even they do not replace music replicated through good speakers (or live of course).

I have a tiny (on the outside) music player with 2GB of storage, and I listen to it, usually with earbuds. I also have some noise-cancelling headphones for use in environments where that is appropriate.

It's not high fidelity, but it's better than the cassette walkman I used fifteen years ago. I probably went through six or seven different earbuds before I found some that were acceptable.

I didn't like the look of earbuds, but when my headphones at work broke, I brought in a set of earbuds that had come free with a set of batteries. They're fine. but I'm getting breaks in the plastic over the wire after about 6-9 months of use. whenever there's no one else in the office (doesn't happen often- I share with three others), I unplug and use the computer speakers. Actually my previous computer didn't have built in speakers and they don't order them unless you have a business-related need for them. Current computer has speakers built into the tower.

At home yesterday I had b.com going on the computer speakers while I did my taxes - had recently signed up for the commerical-free stream - so it was great! Nothing to distract me from cursing away....mostly at NYstate, not the IRS. I ended up owing the Feds, but their form is easier and more straight-forward than NY's.

Well, it's looking bad. I'm busy, I'm losing my Friday freetime while Bella naps as Pumpkin will be home from school (not that I can't get online, but if he sees me put on the computer he'll want to play or draw and will have little patience for me posting...) and will lose the day Sunday to hanging with the folks for Easter. Unlikely that I'll quite make 700 posts by Monday...

Thanks...
Didn't get on all weekend like I predicted. The only reason I was able to quickly check my emails last night was that my husband had checked my math on the taxes and found a couple of little mistakes - saved us about $70...so I got to check email while the finished forms printed. got to stop at the PO when I'm done with lunch.

Got pretty close - think this'll be 688...

I don't think I've ever posted at a rate of 1 ppm (post per minute) for any extended timeframe (i.e, more than two subsequent posts). My posts, in addition to being numerous, are often also lengthy... :D

FOUND PHOTOS:

It’s so..compelling, I found myself completely lost in the photos wondering “Could that be granddaddy Raney?” But then, I’m weird, enjoy
