Army Investigates Alleged Attempt by Soldiers to Poison Food at Fort Jackson

The U.S. Army is investigating allegations that soldiers were attempting to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.

The ongoing probe began two months ago, Chris Grey, a spokesman for the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division, told Fox News.

The Army is taking the allegations “extremely seriously,” Grey said, but so far, "there is no credible information to support the allegations."

Five suspects, detained in December, were part of an Arabic translation program called "09 Lima" and use Arabic as their first language, two sources told Fox News. Another military source said they were Muslim. It wasn't clear whether they were still being held.

Grey would not confirm or deny the sources’ information.

If the food is the same as I got in 1967, how could they tell the difference between poisoned and regular SOS???

The poisoned food probably tasted better, which was the tip-off that something was amiss... ;)

Oh my

Sneaking Somalis Across the Mexican Border

Smuggled in by a guy with connections to al-Shabaab. From the Examiner:

Authorities are searching for 270 Somalis believed to have entered the U.S. illegally with the help of a Virginia man who admitted contacts with an Islamic terrorist group.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent said his agency had yet to locate any of the suspected illegal immigrants.
According to an affidavit filed in Alexandria's federal court, Anthony Joseph Tracy told authorities that he came in contact with the Somali terrorist organization Al-Shabaab, which announced an alliance with al Qaeda earlier this year. . . .

Eyre testified that authorities had not yet tracked down any of the Somalis whom Tracy allegedly helped travel to the U.S. The affidavit says Tracy's e-mails, combined with information on Facebook, show that the Somalis have spread across the country and are living in New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Minnesota and Arizona.

Eyre indicated authorities are trying to find the Somalis and determine whether they're associated with Al-Shabaab. An ICE spokeswoman said she could not comment on an ongoing investigation. The Somalis are believed to have entered the United States through the border with Mexico after making a circuitous trip from Kenya to Dubai to Moscow to Cuba to South America to Mexico and then the U.S., Eyre testified.

Vanessa Parra, a spokeswoman for Refugees International, estimated the trip could cost as much as $30,000. "It would be difficult for most Somalis to get that kind of money," she said.

But don't worry — the Somali illegals are probably strong believers in family values who just want to work.

” LOS ANGELES - The charge of treason was used for the first time in the United States’ war on terrorism Wednesday, filed against a California man who appeared in propaganda videos for al-Qaida.

Adam Yehiye Gadahn, 28, could be sentenced to death if convicted of the charge, which has been used only a few dozen times in U.S. history and not at all since the World War II era. He also was indicted on a charge of providing material support to terrorists.

Gadahn “knowingly adhered to an enemy of the United States, namely, al-Qaida, and gave al-Qaida aid and comfort ... with intent to betray the United States,” according to the indictment, handed up by an Orange County grand jury.”

Good!!

Adam Gadahn was captured this weekend. I want to see him tried for treason and then executed. I would prefer this trial in a military court but wouldn't balk if they decide to try him in a civilian court.

Yeah, I am sure that the dog really enjoys the ground rush...so much so that they have to keep it muzzled.

So does the jumper. It's actually to keep saliva from freezing in the -30 deg. environment. Dogs have been jumping with the military since WWII

Cool in more ways than one, by the look of it.

I've jumped out of an aeroplane only once, from 3500 ft. on a static line. I was absolutely terrified until I realised that everything was working as it should. Then I settled back and enjoyed the ride. Drop zone? I forgot all about that and went for a tour around the airfield we were using. The landing was a shambles, but I'd do another drop quite happily.

I've made two jumps from about 9-10,000 feet...the freefall was amazing. While I enjoyed it from an intelectual and emotional level (most excitement and fun I'd had for a long time), I don't think dogs perceive it in that manner.

Military dog handlers in Vietnam used their dogs in front of them in the event of booby traps and poisonious snakes. That's the real war animals face. In the first Gulf War the military dogs on USAF forward bases had the only air conditioned quarters. It works both ways.

"Simpson and his donkey" http://www.stuff.co.nz//343725 is one of the classic paintings of WW1. That's why I think the donkey in the memorial sculpture should be carrying a wounded soldier rather than a cannon.

Were there any geese in the mural? I couldn't see any, and they've been valuable sentries since Roman times, and probably earlier.

Didn't see any geese, nor ducks either. I personally knew F.R.Duck, who was an antiaircraft fire spotter for one squadron in Vietnam. Nice little mallard hen - are the girl ducks hens? - who'd raise an incredible ruckus about guns that the people couldn't see.

Experts warn of explosive breast implants to blow up planes.

Why does the title of the movie Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang come to mind? ;)

I see that article comes from the "Sun". I'd want it confirmed by a more reputable rag before I believed it.

Though the plain fact is that you can put a bomb almost anywhere.

I know. I just wanted the chance to use the 'chitty-chitty bang-bang' line.

If they were stuffing bombs in cats, it would be 'kitty-kitty bang-bang', would it not?
